Interesting short story. Nice for people learning portuguese
A nice and short book. Simple to ready. Some more dramatic aspects would make an amazing book. I like it.
I love Machado de Assis. Reading is easy and delicious. I read the book in two hours.
A short and lovely story. It has made me weep and smile. I read it to practice my Portuguese, so I couldn't say that I understood it totally, but according to what I've comprehended, this book is worth reading, and I'm going to read it once more.
É um conto bastante romantico de Machado de Assis. O final é bastante previsível. Ilustra bem o estilo desse autor, no qual o narrador é quase um personagem e tem até opiniao própria.

The free dictionary that is downloadable for your kindle/kindle software from the kindle site is an excellent aid, as it facilitates fully integrated word definition explanations, whenever you are confronted by a word you do not know. Thats excellent!

As its a classic book the vocabulary is antiquated so the dictionary helps tremendously.
