I was fortunate to see this amazing young driver come into prominence through junior series open wheel classes and be a marshal at many of his triumphs in North America and even shared a beer with him after his victory at Watkins Glen. But this allows me access on a much more personal level. Seeing an automotive legend through the eyes and mind of a master Motorsport photographer makes it a complete experience. The E-book of this now has me ready to buy the bound hard copy...because I must have it for my library. It's a great ride.Product details

This book reads more like a year by year recap of Formula 1 racing instead of a biography on Villeneuve as the author interspersed the Formula 1 season with the chapters on Gilles on the Formula 2 circuit. The book got better once Gilles made it to Formula 1 and the recap of his death on the track was written well. There are many videos added to this book and they enhance the reading so it is best to read this on a tablet with an Internet connection. I was surprised at just how many drivers have died in F1 over the years. The video tributes to some of these drivers such as Bruce McClaren was the best part of this book.
OMG I was captivated by the end of the first 5 pages and could not put the book down.
I was caught in the raw energy and emotion that pulses through this book. These men were truly Dare Devils.
This book makes it clear that they did what they did because of the sheer joy of living so fully. I had no
idea of the risks they took everyday. This gives you a great look at the history of the sport
and Gilles Villeneuve's life, not in a dry way but as a living and breathing, pulsing and racing
entity. Gilles was acknowledged as a "cut above" most of the drivers, despite what was often poor equipment, from
Ferrari, no less. But he never complained until one day he was betrayed..
I had to read the book from cover to cover fast in the energy of the book and then I could go back and
savour the music and the links out to the video clips and enjoy the many brilliant pictures taken by several photographers including Allan de la Plante, the author of this book, and Gilles Personal photographer.
I want to give it 10 Stars because that is what I think it deserves! As a somewhat jaded reader of anything and everything
it was surreal to grab a book that just tore at my heart with the rawness and the power and the courage that
was on display by the men featured in this book, and particularly Gilles Villeneuve. Salut Gilles! RIP
I feel disappointed. All pictures and videos have already been on the internet years ago. There is nothing in this book that I didn’t already knew, nothing that I haven’t already seen. With all due respect, I would like to say to Mr. Allan de la Plante, that I expected much more than this. My opinion is that this book is addressed to Gilles’s less dedicated and less knowledgeable fans. I was expecting to read unpublished stuff, untold stories, and view unseen photographs. Instead I had to spend $14 to see what anyone can read and see within a 15’ Googling. I apologize for my English, Angelo.
Simply the best pictures, period. I loved it the first time when I first bought it and now it will simply blow anyone's mind away. Thanks Allan for the memories!
This is easily the best autosport e-book on the market today. Allan de la Plante continues to give us fresh material not only on Gilles Villeneuve but auto racing in general. For any racing fan Formula One or not, this book is a must buy. This type of insight and historic perspective is very hard to find. This is the best 10 bucks I've ever spent on ANY book.

Allan has done a great job. Anyone who likes Gilles and F1 history will be blown away. It's such a riveting read that as an airline pilot, I read it during my rest-period at 39,000' ! The added video links really enhance an already great book.
I own the original hard copy and have been a fan of Villeneuve since 1972 when I raced snowmobiles.
Like most things in the digital world, this creation offers more photos, stories and side bars about not only the racing legend, but about the sport and his peers.
I am discovering something new every time I access the easily navigated story. It is my first digital book and I now see the value in a great quality digital product. The links to numerous YouTube videos are fantastic and with sound and commentary it takes you back to a racing era when cars did not have all the electronic aids and drivers were drivers. Respected Motor Sport magazine from the UK just did a cover story on the top 20 Ferrari drivers and Villeneuve was number 1.
I have a small shrine, honouring Villeneuve, in my basement and this new modern digital book is a nice addition.
