A Killer Stalks the Streets.
Simone LeBeau is fearless. A messenger for the Hermes Guild, she travels via the rooftops delivering letters and parcels with the grace of a freed bird. A guardian to a small orphaned girl. Heartless: A Guild Story tells the story of Simone Le Beau, a young Hermes Guild’s messenger whose job is very dangerous, requiring strength, courage and aerobatic ability. Although not a requirement to travel by rooftop, Simone prides herself on a job well done for providing the fastest service to clients. Also as a female in a very proper society, Simone is recognizable in her black, Hermes messenger outfit and trousers, causing her to be a woman before her time!Author Samantha Allard did an excellent job of creating Simone’s home of Dark Town with such vivid detail that I as a reader imagined myself jumping rooftops right along with her!
The Heart Thief comes to the city, terrorizing citizens from the poorer districts, as well those with no family. Simone is upset after witnessing one of the Heart Thief’s murders and feels guilty for not doing more to help the victim. As she begins her search along with her friends, she is determined to find evidence in order to catch the killer!
Simone is a courageous, resilient and resourceful young woman! I loved her resolve and loyalty when she jumps into the murder investigation desiring to keep the streets safe for everyone.
Heartless: A Guild Story is a novel full of mystery and suspense! I loved the subtle twists and turns in the story that caused me to think I knew who the killer was only to find out I was wrong! Lol
The story is fresh and unique. I enjoyed the descriptions so much;I can’t wait to return for more! A well-written and well-paced read, it hooks the reader right at the start and doesn’t let go until the end!

First of all, the concept for this story is so completely original, it kept my attention like no other book I've encountered in some time. It was very refreshing!
Simone is a messenger for the Hermes Guild in Dark Town. She is as strong and fearless as any heroine should be, and she proves that fact by pouncing from rooftop to rooftop to fulfill her duties.
She encounters the murderous Heart Thief, and vows to stop his evil deeds.
The author's writing style is so pleasant and engaging that any reader will be drawn in from beginning to surprising end.
Although I won't give anything away, the ending does provide some heart wrenching twists that were entirely unexpected. The reader will be left gasping and wondering about the lines between good and evil.
Five well-deserved stars!! I'm looking so forward to more from this author!!
